being在句中的语法用途

请问这里的the only exceptions being……语法成分，是补语？还是结果状语，为何要用being，不是is was? 还有exceptions为何用复数，the限定词不是用单数吗？求指导。

这里是由目前分词being 组成的独立主格结构，做状语，按薄冰教授的看法，可以看作具备讲解说明用途的随着状语。独立主格结构常常和分词连用，所以不可以用is/was。exception 应该用单数，由于其后player指LeBron James，是单数，（和限定词the 没关系）用复数有误，可能是外媒的疏忽。
